Practical info for a trip to Bonaire

The $40 STINAPA nature fee per calendar year, why you want a rental car, whether the tap water is safe to drink and what the weather on Bonaire actually does.

A car. You will want one. The houses are a few minutes south of Kralendijk and the beaches and dive sites are spread along the coast. We can arrange a rental car and have it waiting.

The nature fee. Everyone entering the marine park pays the STINAPA nature fee of $40 per person, valid for the calendar year, divers and snorkelers alike. It is what keeps the reef in the state it is in.

Water and power. Tap water on Bonaire is desalinated and safe to drink. Power and water are not cheap on an island, so a little care with the air conditioning is appreciated.

Weather. It is dry, warm and windy nearly all year. Bonaire sits outside the hurricane belt, which is one reason the island fills up when the rest of the region does not.
